YELTZ HALL OF FAME
The Yeltz Hall of Fame is voted for by the fans to recognise players, managers or indeed anyone
who has made an outstanding contribution to Halesowen Town.
It's loosely based on Baseball's Hall of Fame, and the "official"
rules reflect this. The first 14 members of the Hall of Fame have now been elected -
you can see the results below. The 2004 nominations to elect the next two members will start in July 2004.
Hall of Fame Members
Elected in 2003
 |
Kevin Harrison
There is no comparison....consistent goalscorer and very stylish attacking player.
Mild-mannered, although once shocked The Grove by punching a Gresley player off the ball. |
 |
Richard Crisp
Goalscoring midfielder and full-back. Regularly scored double figures in a season,
and an unbelievably good penalty-taker. |
Elected in 2002
 |
Paul Joinson
Forget Michael Owen, Joiner was the best finisher in front of goal ever seen.
Scored a ridiculous amount of goals for us in the 1980s and 90s. Distinguishing feature
was his moustache, essential for non-regulars to tell the difference between him
and twin brother Lee. |
 |
Harry Rudge
Mr. Halesowen Town. Just about kept the club going after the war when
we weren't doing so good. Had every job in the club at one time or another
- player, manager, chairman, everything.
A true legend, and obviously who the main stand was named after. |
 |
Malcolm Hazlewood
An extremely classy midfielder from the Vase era. A key player in the success
of that team, it was always surprising he didn't go on play at a much higher level.
Catch phrase - "Hold, hold" |
 |
Lee Joinson
Although always thought of more of a provider, Lee scored loads of goals for us
in the 1980s and 90s. Distinguishing feature
was not having a moustache, essential for non-regulars to tell the difference between him
and twin brother Paul. |
 |
John Snape
"Snapper, Snapper..." - A legend as much for his terrible shooting as for his dynamic leadership
and tackling. Snapper was a real leader and a huge favorite with the fans. |
 |
Stewart Hall
"In the town where I was born...." - Took us to our highest ever position in that unforgettable season in
1995-96 when we just lost out to Rushden. An excellent coach, Stewart was always willing to
talk with the fans after the game to explain the finer points of his decisions. |
 |
Paddy Page
Manager who transformed the club from a lowly West Mids. League team to the club
we know now. Built the famous Vase winning teams of the 1980s to bring
unprecedented success to the Yeltz. Still remembered fondly, and it's
still unknown whether his hair was all his own :-) |
 |
Danny McDonnell
"Oh Danny Boy, that save you made was awesome!". A top quality keeper
and a fantastic shot-stopper. |
 |
Sean Flynn
The Yeltz player who went on to have most success in the game. Most
fondly remembered for his goal in the FA Cup vs. Tranmere, whom along with
Coventry, Derby, WBA and others he left us to play for. |
 |
Evran Wright
"He's got a Vileda on his head" - Evran was a real character, a
striker who was a fantastic finisher. |
 |
Andy Bradley
"Andy Bradley, Andy Bradley, Bradley Bradley, Andy Andy" - Bradder would never
let anyone down and probably played in just about every position at one time or another. |
 |
Geoff Moss
The third member of the Vase attack, always slightly overshadowed by the Joinsons
but the perfect foil for them. Remembered for his mighty salmon leaps, near-post flick ons and
scoring at Wembley. |
